2013 - 2014 Program Schedule


Nine-Month Mahamudra Program Starting in 2014

Starting First or Second Saturday of Each Calendar Year
First Saturday of the month in Fairfax (and possibly other Marin or Sonoma County locations).
Fee: No minimum donation.

Since 1989, MMC hasconducted an annual 9-month Mahamudra study and practice program. Below please find examples of recent program descriptions.

Nine-Month Mahamudra Program (2013-2014)

Starting September 7, 2013
First Saturday of the month in Fairfax (and possibly other Marin County locations).
Fee: No minimum donation.

The songs of Naropa and Tilopa and other great Siddhas according to the oral instructions of Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche will serve as a basis for this program. Sessions will include guided meditations in Mahamudra and discussions.

Introduction to Longchen Rabjam's teachings on the Four Chog Zhag and the Three Samadhis (2013-2014)

Subsequent meetings: Mar 9, May 11, Sept 14, Nov 9 in 2013 and (Please NOTE: Jan 11 Meeting is CANCELLED) Mar 8, May 10 in 2014.
Location: Thrangu Chagchen Chögar in Kenwood
Fee: No minimum donation.
Time: 9:30 am until 12:30 pm

Lama Thapkhay will present the essence instructions of Longchen Rabjam on the “Four Chog Zhag” and “Three Samadhis.” These embody the essence of meditation according to the “path of awareness” of Dzogchen. We will take the time to carefully and leisurely explore each of these methods and meditations based on Longchenpa’s own instructions as provided in the Chöying Dzöd, including clarification of key Tibetan terms. Practice periods will be conducted with the help of Lama Kunzang. These sessions are open to all present and former members of the MMC Nine Month Program.


Foundation (Basis), Way (Weg), View (Sicht), and Fruition (Frucht) of Mahamudra

Location: Cafuk Yoga Center in Kaiserlautern, Germany
Fee: No minimum donation.
Time: 15.00 Uhr bis 017.00 Uhr

Lama Thapkhay will present an introduction to the ground, path, view, and fruition of Mahamudra based on Wangchug Dorje's MAHAMUDRA Der Ozean des wahren Sinnes and Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche's teachings. The teaching will be in German. (See center's German website for more specifics.) This is a fundraiser for the rebuilding of Thrangu Monastary in Tibet, which was destroyed in 2010 by an earthquake.

A Cycle of Day and Night by Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, will serve as a basis for this program. The unity of Dzogchen and Mahamudra will be an emphasis of this program, while carefully honoring their distinct approaches to discovering our true nature.

Practice Sessions of of Mahamudra and Dzogchen (2012-2013)

These are informal practice days which will rely on essential instructions of the lineage masters of the Kagyu and Nyingma lineages. We may also include gentle tai chi/chi gung practices.

These practice days are open to all past and present members of the MMC Nine-Month Program. Please contact Lama Kunzang at khale@hannacenter.org for registration or additional information.

An Ocean of the Ultimate Meaning by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, a commentary on Wangchuk Dorje's (9th Karmapa) Ngedon Gyatso, will serve as a basis for this program.
